Cornerstone Students Ring in the New Year

Cornerstone was the place to be New Year’s Eve as students, staff and volunteers rang in 2017. The annual New Year’s Lock-In gave area young people the opportunity to celebrate in a healthy, safe environment from 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 7 a.m. New Year’s Day.

Activities ranged from spirited dodge ball tournaments (the second one with glow-in-the-dark dodge balls) to ice-breaking games, pool, video games and watching funny YouTube videos. Pizza, chips and soft drinks fueled the participants through the night.

Just before the ball dropped at midnight, a large-group activity encouraged students to reflect on the previous year. Then it was time to bring out the noisemakers and greet the new year. After the ball dropped, students were able to participate in a video game tournament, more dodgeball and an art activity where they decorated calendars for 2017. Many students enjoyed talking with students from different schools about their shared interests.

Cornerstone would like to thank T.E.X.T Youth Group and Monroeville Naz Youth for partnering with us for this successful Lock In.
