CYC Monroeville

Youth in 9th-12th grade are welcome at Cornerstone Youth Center in Monroeville (CYC Monroeville) every day after school from 3-6 p.m. and during weekend hours [Friday from 6-10 p.m.]. During this time, youth can participate in a number of activities that provide enrichment not offered during the school day.

A typical day at CYC Monroeville

  • Daily: youth sign in, receive a healthy snack and have opportunities for recreation and homework help.
  • Daily Choices: Learning Centers designed for STEAM [science, technology, engineering, arts (performing and visual) and math] enrichment. Learning Centers change depending on the day throughout the school year depending on the availability of community partners but each is designed for the 9th – 12th grade youth enrichment.
  • Youth “own” it: Youth take ownership of the program by participating, openness to each other and staff, taking responsibility by cleaning up after self and helping others, offering suggestions, and leading by example.

    4:00 PM-7:00 PM
    2018.04.18

Northeast Indiana Building Trades represents 18 construction trades in the region. CYC has invited
them to bring representatives from their industries in to our center to discuss apprenticeship
opportunities with our community. Apprenticeships are three-to-five year training programs, at no
cost to students, in which they learn their trade with hands on and classroom training and work
towards becoming a master at the craft. A majority of the apprenticeships will offer an Associate’s
Degree from Ivy Tech along with a Journeyman’s card to use almost anywhere in the U.S., upon
    graduation.
This event is open to all, regardless of age or experience in construction. They will be able to discuss
a future plan with students to get them in a good position to be accepted into an apprenticeship upon
graduation. They also will have contractors and tradesmen on site to discuss work opportunities with
anyone who is over the age of 18 with a valid driver’s license and a H.S. diploma or equivalent.
